In homage to the North African-born 2nd Century B.C. Roman playwright, Publius Terentius Afer, I chose my pen name - Byrsa, by the way, is a hill near the Mediterranean coast in present-day Tunisia and is the birthplace of Terence.
I've always loved to write, but never saw it as a career until I moved to Chicago in 2006. I've got several manuscripts of novels in various drafts, over a dozen short stories (two of which have been recognized with publication and a third place award) a dozen plays in draft form and some very bad poetry I've for therapy!
My first publishing contract was signed on May 8th of this year for the Haymarket tour book. I look forward to many more!
